DETAILS: ESU 6 will again facilitate the analytic scoring of student papers for grades 2-11. This process allows teachers throughout ESU 6 to discuss good writing and effective instruction as well as to consider their students' writing abilities as related to the traits of writing. This data can then be used to intervene with specific students, inform instruction about specific traits, or provide data for refinement of writing programs. DETAILS: Jennifer Wickard, an ELL teacher from Crete Public Schools, will be presenting effective classroom strategies based on Classroom Instruction that Works with English Language Learners (Hill & Flynn, 2006). General education teachers, ELL teachers, and any district personnel who work with English Language Learners will find the strategies practical, effective, and engaging.

This event will meet in ESU 6 Conference & Technology Center. This course is designed to provide information and skills to help prepare teachers for their first year of teaching in a district. Participants will study a range of important topics such as unit and lesson design, classroom routines and procedures, assessment and grading, and brain based instructional skills. Roller Derby and Other Engaging Number Sense Activities for Primary Grades
